Bankstown Bulldogs and the St. George Dragons. Played on September 29, 1985, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the match drew 44,569 spectators. Canterbury won narrowly, 7–6, with winger Peter Mortimer scoring the only try and centre Andrew Farrar adding a field goal. St. George's points came from Steve Morris' try and Michael O'Connor's goal.
